Reita Faria Powell born to Goan parents in British Bombay is an Indian model, doctor and beauty queen who won Miss World 1966, to become the first Asian woman to win the event. She went on to become the first Miss World winner to qualify as a Doctor.

A native of Mumbai, Reita Faria was crowned Miss World 1966, 50 years ago. As Miss India, Reita won Miss World in 1966, becoming the first Asian to bag the title.
Reita Faria was flooded with modelling and movie offers after she won the Miss World title in 1966. She rejected the offers and continued to follow what she wanted to do, and completed her MBBS – eventually becoming a doctor like she had always wanted to be.
Ever since her childhood, Faria wanted to help people in some way or the other. A career in medicine, therefore, proved to be the right profession for her. Faria always claimed that it was her friends who had insisted that she enter the competition. And while she had only participated for fun, she ended up winning the much coveted Miss World title.
Apart from Miss World title, this beauty with brains also won the title of Miss Bombay, 1966. She was also the Winner of Eve’s Weekly Miss India 1966.
Faria went on to marry an Irishman – Dr David Powell – and moved to Dublin, Ireland in 1971 where she still continues to reside.

The History Repeats itself at Mr. World after 50 years when Rohit Khandelwal won the Mr World 2016.
26 -year-old Rohit Khandelwal of India bested 45 other contestants from around the world and was named Mr World 2016 during the finals held 19th July at the Floral Hall, Southport Convention Center, in Southport, England. He is the first Asian to win the coveted title of the 20 years old international male pageant.
Rohit is an actor and TV personality from the Southern Indian city of Hyderabad. Describing himself as a dreamer and believer, he is intent on forging a successful career in front of the camera, but also plans on studying to move behind the camera and make his own films. Aside from his acting, Rohit loves to keep fit, play sports and travel. His favourite cuisine includes indian sweet dish Gulab Jamuns, and Dosa, a south Indian pancake.
