28-year-old CHRIS KRAUEL, the new Mr Gay Austria 2016. He originally comes from Germany. He will be competing at this year’s Mr. Gay World 2016 competition in Malta from 19th-23rd April. A few days ago he launched his campaign #lips4tolerance. This is about tolerance and acceptance within the LGBTI community.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO WIN MR. GAY WORLD?
CHRIS: Mr Gay World gives me the opportunity to discuss current topics on a global level in order to advance LGBTI rights. I think it is a great opportunity to foster international networking between the communities as I am certain that we can still learn so much from other cultures and countries. Hence, as Mr Gay World I would like to intensify cultural exchanges between the countries and promote tolerance and acceptance within the community.
YOUR CAMPAIGN IS #LIPS4TOLERANCE. WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?
CHRIS: My campaign #lips4tolerance is a call for more tolerance and acceptance in our own LGBTI community. I have to realize in recent years that an increasing discrimination or homophobia takes place in our own ranks. To counter this trend, my campaign is based on two-colored lips with the importance that we bring our voice heard and send a positive signal for acceptance, tolerance and diversity.
WHAT RECKON YOU FROM YOUR CHANCE TO WIN IN MALTA?
CHRIS: I think it will be a very close and exciting final in Malta, as there is no clear favorite, but some candidates with very good chances for the title. Nevertheless, I am very ambitious and I think I can reach one of the top places or maybe even at the end bring the title to Austria. That would be my dream!
WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE?
CHRIS: Live your dream! It sounds very simple but emphasizes exactly what I do – work towards my dreams and live them, because you never know what brings the next morning.
