New Delhi based doctor and model, Pankaj Ahlawat was chosen as the very first Rubaru Mr India National Universe at the conclusion of this year’s Rubaru Mr India pageant. He will now represent India at the inaugural edition of Mister National Universe pageant to take place from 5 June 2017 to 13 June 2017 in Thailand. This international pageant for men is owned by Thai entrepreneur, media personality and the creative director of the Hot Magazine, Ms Tanya V.
In this exclusive interview with Misterology, Pankaj talked about his tryst with pageantry and how his life has changed since entering India’s biggest male pageant, the Rubaru Mr India pageant. Let’s have a look!
Q. First of all many congratulations to you for being chosen as the very first Rubaru Mr India National Universe. How do you feel about it?
Pankaj: Thank you very much. I feel extremely happy and proud to be chosen as the first Rubaru Mr India National Universe. I feel blessed and honoured that I have been given this amazing opportunity to represent my beloved country, India at the inaugural edition of Mister National Universe competition. I am looking forward to meet my new friends in Thailand and give my best at the international arena.
Q. Were you expecting something like this to happen?
Pankaj: I was not expecting something like this to happen so sudden in my life. It did come like a pleasant surprise to me. Entering Rubaru Mr India pageant gave me the opportunity to know pageantry better. I still cherish the memories of my pageant days and looking forward to have more such amazing memories in Thailand during Mister National Universe 2017 contest.
Q. Tell us a bit more about yourself.
Pankaj: Well, I would describe myself as an ordinary guy from New Delhi with extraordinary dreams. I believe that optimism is the key to success and leading a great life. I find happiness in every little thing that life offers. A doctor by profession, I like to help people, not just by medication but in every possible way. It makes me feel extremely happy when I make people around me happy. I like to learn and experience new things by challenging myself to new heights. I strongly believe in the quote, ‘every time I try something new, either I succeed or I learn a new lesson’.
Q. How has your journey been so far with the Rubaru Mr India Organization?
Pankaj: The journey so far has been really great and amazing. I got the chance to learn and experience new things, explored different avenues, met so many influential people and made some of the greatest friends. The Rubaru Mr India 2017 contest turned out be a new chapter of my life. It provided me with some of the greatest memories of my life.
Q. Soon, you will be representing India at the inaugural edition of Mister National Universe competition in Thailand. What would you like to say about that?
Pankaj: I feel so proud and humbled that I have been giving this wonderful opportunity to represent my nation at the inaugural edition of Mister National Universe contest. I would like to thank the Rubaru Mr India Organization for seeing the potential in me and believing in me that I would do full justice to this title. I am determined to give my best and will surely give my best. Other than that, I am really looking forward explore the beautiful land of Thailand with my new friends and learn about Thai culture.
Q. From being doctor to becoming a Mr India and now representing India at an international level. How would you describe this beautiful transition that took place in your life?
Pankaj: The question itself has the answer, ‘beautiful’. Although the transition had been real sudden and one of the most unexpected ones, the entire journey has been just amazing and I feel really happy and glad to be chosen as the first Rubaru Mr India National Universe. I got an opportunity to experience this fascinating world of pageantry and I am enjoying every bit of it.
Q. How are the preparations going on for the big event to take place in Thailand in June this year?
Pankaj: The preparations are in full swing keeping in mind that the competition is going to very tough as are going to have equally deserving candidates from all over the world vying for the very same title. I am working as hard as I can and trying to leave no stone unturned. AsI mentioned earlier as well, I am determined to give my best and I will surely give my best.
Q. Your biggest support.
Pankaj: My biggest support has always been my well-wishers, when I say well-wishers, it comprises my family, my friends, my colleagues and that every single person who has been with me and supported in any phase of my life. Now, being a part of the Rubaru family, I have found a new support system in Mr Sandeep Kumar, Mr Pankaj Kharbanda and all my co-winners. Everybody has been so kind and generous. All of them have supported me in every possible way.
Q. Your inspiration in life.
Pankaj: My father is my inspiration in life as I grew up watching him as a hero. He handled every problem and supported the family in the darkest of times and has always been so calm and composed in the toughest situations. I really look up to him and wish to be like him.
Q. Any quote or saying that has profound impact on you.
Pankaj: ‘You can get everything in life you want if you just help others in getting what they want’. It is the quote I based my life on.
Q. Any message for the readers.
Pankaj: I want to say that one should try different things in life, move out of one’s comfort zone and explore new avenues. Life has so much to offer. Whenever you think of giving up on anything just think about the reason you started it.
