Exclusive Interview with Mister International Spain 2023, Jose Calle

1) First of all, many congratulations to you, Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about you?
Hello, I’m Jose Calle, Mister International Spain. I’m 28 years old, from the beautiful city of Malaga, next to the Mediterranean, and I work as a military officer in the Spanish armed forces. I enjoy sports, reading, and listening to personal growth podcasts. I also like healthy food and spending time with young people.

2) What are your next projects ?
My upcoming projects involve traveling around the world to enrich myself culturally and help young people find their cause in life. I want to share my social advocacy for children with dyslexia internationally. One of my major projects is creating an international campaign named “International Impact.” Through this campaign, I plan to give talks, conferences, and workshops for children and young people on all continents, sharing my experiences as an army soldier and a social advocate for children with dyslexia. I aim to inspire the new generation to discover their own social causes. I also intend to apply to give a TEDx talk about inspiring the new generation and my work in raising awareness about dyslexia.

3) If you are elected “Mister International 2023”, what will be your first action ?
My first action as Mister International 2023 would be to launch my international campaign, #InternationalImpact, by starting to give talks, workshops, and conferences internationally. These events will focus on my social advocacy and will help the new generation find their social causes and life purposes. I believe that there are numerous issues and problems affecting the world, from climate change to mental health, poverty, war, gender inequality, and human rights violations, many others. I want every child and young person who attends my talks and conferences to identify a social cause they resonate with and encourage them to join non-profits, initiate their campaigns or platforms, or support existing campaigns to make a positive impact and help create a progressive, positive, and transformative change in the world.

4) Mister International’s slogan is “Distinctly Handsome, Inspiring the Next Generation ”. Do you support a cause?
Absolutely! I’m a dedicated advocate for making dyslexia visible. Dyslexia is a global issue that requires more support, and I have been championing this cause. I also aim to amplify this social cause by inspiring children and young people with my example as a social advocate, encouraging them to discover their own social causes. I firmly believe that true beauty is in what we do for others, shedding light on positive change and creating a more just world.

5) What is your favorite song or music video?
“Coldplay – Viva la Vida.” It really sheds light to the beauty of life!

6 ) What is your favorite food?
My favorite dish is the Spanish omelette 🥔, a typical Spanish delicacy. You have to try it!

7) What is your favorite animal ?
The dog 🐕 because it’s man’s best friend.

8) What is your favorite movie ?
One of my favorite movies is “Los chicos del coro”. It explores themes of education, childhood, the transformative power of music, and the complexities of troubled families.

9) What is your favorite color ?
Green, as it’s the color of my uniform in the Spanish Armed Forces, symbolizing discipline, honor, and a commitment to serving my country.

10) Name your favorite book ?
My favorite book is “Todo se puede entrenar” (“Everything Can Be Trained”) by Rafa Nadal, our best Spanish tennis player. This book is about the virtues of persistence, the power of mental and physical dedication, and offers invaluable insights into achieving one’s goals.

11) Name your favorite magazine ?
One of my preferred magazines is “Marca,” a sports publication that spotlights Spain’s emerging talents and celebrates the spirit of sportsmanship.

12) Who is your favorite celebrity ?
A celebrity I greatly admire is Rafael Nadal, our Spanish tennis player who embodies unwavering discipline, commitment, and dedication as athlete and philanthropist. I also admire Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018! She’s my favorite celebrity from the Philippines, and I truly admire her social work as a beauty queen and her example as a resilient and powerful woman. She didn’t win her first international pageant (Miss World 2016), but she came back fully prepared and won Miss Universe in 2018. I was a runner-up in my last pageant, much like Catriona, so I follow her example of never giving up and conquering the international stage.

13) What’s your special message to your fans and our fellow readers?

Dear readers and fans, I want to tell you that I am absolutely in love with the Philippines! This beautiful land is where Spain achieved its first and only Miss Universe crown in 1974 with Amparo Muñoz. I would love to be the first Spaniard to win the title of Mister International and inspire the next generation with the support of all of you! I truly aspire to win this title to elevate and amplify the voices of those who need visibility. Aspire to inspire! And remember, never give up. If you truly have a dream, pursue it and fight for it
