Masaya Yamagishi, a 23-year-old representing Kanagawa Prefecture won Mr.JAPAN 2016 title held at ホテル椿山荘東京(Hotel Chinzanso Toky) last 1st March 2016. Yamagishi will represent Japan at the 11th edition of Mister International 2016 to be held on 19th December 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. He comes from Chigasaki, a city located in central, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. He has also appeared in several television programmes. The winner for the year 2015 was Junpei Watanabe (渡部純平)
Yamagishi is a great lover of water activities. He has been swimming since the age of 2 and won the 3rd place in the national competition. At present, he works as a swimming coach and a gym trainer, so he is definitely a sporty type. Among the famous people he admires are actor Ken Watanabe (渡辺謙) and screenwriter Sho Aikawa (哀川翔). He also says that he prefers women with fuller faces, and he has expressed interest to costar with actress Manami Higa in the future.
The 2016 Mister International Pageant will feature contestants from over 40 countries. They will be judged in three categories: swimwear, evening wear and interview, as they vie to become Mister International 2016. The webcast will conclude with Mister International Pedro Mendes from Switzerland crowning his successor.
